Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport, transfer to Lake Kivu

After your flight lands in Kigali, our driver will be waiting for you at the arrivals with the car rental Rwanda vehicle option you chose for your Lake Kivu Safaris. Straight away the approximately 187 kilometer journey to Lake Kivu in Kibuye, west of Kigali City.

In about 4 hours, the driver shall have arrived in the vicinity of Lake Kivu. There are some great accommodation options to consider spending your nights during you Lake Kivu safaris.

The best luxury hotels around include Cleo Lake Kivu hotel, Villa Vista Lago and so many more. The midrange options include Contemporary Suite, Umutuzo lodge Kivu Lake, Romantic Gateaways, etc.

The best budget friendly stays around the area include Rebero Kivu Resort, Kivu Macheo eco-lodge, Rwiza village, among others. After checking in, lunch follows at the hotel.

After lunch utilize the rest of the day to relax and take in the Rwandan environment around Lake Kivu. Dinner will be served in time in your suit or at any other location within the lodge premises.

Day 2: Water adventures, Hot spring and geothermal baths plus bird watching

Early in the morning, the lodge waitresses will bring you breakfast in your suite before the driver picks you up for your morning boat cruise adventures. As time closes to midday, you shall proceed to the hot springs and geothermal baths around Lake Kivu near Gisenyi.

Your day 2 Lake Kivu safaris then gets on hold with a lunch break at any of the nice restaurants in the vicinity that you may prefer. Later on, the safaris reignite with bird watching adventures.

The driver will then proceed on your transfer back at the lodge to relax and have dinner plus all the other full board services the hotel provides.

Day 3: Explore islands, hiking and nature walks

You shall have your day 3 breakfast of your Lake Kivu safaris on the boat that takes you to the islands in Lake Kivu. There are some interesting islands to explore such as the Idjwi Island, Bukavu Island, Bubare and so many more.

You will have lunch at any of the restaurants at the Islands then proceed to guided hikes in the islands. More adventures await you such as the cultural encounters of the natives occupying the islands.

By around 5pm, the bot captain will embark on your sail back to the lodge where you shall get the chance of observing the sunset. Upon your arrival at the lodge, you shall be served dinner alongside other services before your rest.

Day 4: Lakeside retreats and transfer to Kigali city

Day 4 of your Lake Kivu safaris gets ignited with an early morning feast at the lake with your loved ones. This is a well prepared feast with local and international delicacies for you to enjoy. This gives you plenty to eye on such as the sunrise, with priceless soothing sounds of the running Lake Kivu water.

Shortly after, the driver will take you back at the lodge to checkout before embarking on the transfer to Kigali. In about 4 hours, you shall have set gaze in the city as the driver takes you to the nicest accommodation places to rest at.

After checking in, you will be served with lunch and left to relax for the rest of the evening. In the night the driver will come pick you up and give you a Kigali night life tour. Day ends with drop off back to the hotel for sleep.

Day 5: Kigali city tour and transfer to Kigali International Airport

After your morning breakfast at the lodge, the driver will embark on your Kigali city tour that includes visiting the Kigali genocide memorial, Nyandungu eco-tourism Park plus the Inema Arts center.

You will then be taken for lunch around the nice restaurants in Kigali to have a taste at the fine local and international cuisine available. The trip continues to the airport shortly after so that you can catch your flight in time.

• Meals taken at the hotel premises on your Lake Kivu safaris are not paid for because they are part of the full board service on accommodation.
• Boat cruise sails at the lake cost Rwandans and East Africans RWF 10000, whereas foreign residents pay 35 USD and the foreign nonresidents pay 40 USD.
• Nature walks on the Islands cost foreign residents 15 USD, foreign nonresidents 30 USD, whereas Rwandese and East African nationals pay RWF 10,000.
• Hot springs explorations and geothermal baths are RWF 10,000 for Rwandese and East African nationals, 15 USD for foreign residents and 30 USD for foreign nonresidents.
